Good book, but 21 days was way to long for my Goldendoodle to learn and use the concepts. It worked better for us at an accelerated rate.

I adopted a 2 year old German Shepard from my local pound. Poor girl was shaking and so scared. So naturally we took her and invited her into pur home. Being first time dog owners, there were a lot of mistakes that were made. Safe to say that I don't have any shoes without bites marks and we no longer have any remotes in our home. She had such high anxiety, we weren't quite sire what to do and I was afraid we'd have to give her back to the pound. This book changed her behavior in a complete 180. Whereas she still isn't perfect, it has helped teach her manners, work on recall, and simpler things such as not jumping on people or guests, door and food manners, and bite inhibition. Bite inhibition was HUGE success!! It wasn't that she was aggressive but that she thought it was ok to regularly use teeth during play. But now she's much more calm and gentle and does not use teeth. I can also poke around her mouth without fear of being hurt. We still have a looking way to go but this is a huuuge start. This book lays out the program simply and in great detail to help anyone understand what to do and how to problem solve for their own pups needs. It helped me train my pound puppy and I'll keep it for all pups to come :)

An excellent resource for training your dog. At least I think it is... I missed the first chapter since our sweet doggie ate it. I did appreciate her desire to really digest the program and information contained in the book. Perhaps, in the future, you would consider an audio version of the book for the more difficult-to-train dogs?

There’s a lot of good advice in here. To be fair, it does say how to train the “best dog ever” and I think I’d be happy with my dog just being moderately well trained. Some of the tips are a little bit tedious, and depending on how involved you are, may seem like overkill. Personally, I’m not going to feed my dog by hand twice a day for weeks. But it generally gave us a good idea of how to get started when we adopted our rescue, and I think it’s important to have an understanding of how your behavior and reactions will establish your dog’s behavior.

I read this book before I got my Shiba Inu puppy. He was 8 weeks old when I got him and immediately started using the techniques from the book. After 4 weeks he has "sit", "down", "stay" perfectly, and walks on a leash with reasonable ease. And he seems to understand what we are doing with this training thing. People are amazed that he can do so much at such a young age. I couldn't be happier.

This book turned our world around for my puppy Baxter within 24 hours of beginning positive reinforcement training. I had trained my previous dog using Cesar Millan's book and theories, and that worked great for him. 10 years later and time for the next puppy - I got Cesar's puppy book and read it prior to getting him, but it wasn't working great for Baxter. At my wit's end and frustrated I found this book and began implementing positive reinforcement training with bits of puppy kibble in my pocket at all times and we were amazed at the 180 in his behavior! I like the structure of the book that gives specific breakdown for teaching a behavior and progressing with it. I needed specifics as opposed to the generalizations that Cesar provides. All in all, I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone training a puppy! I can't vouch for it's usefulness for an adult dog since I used it on my 10 week old puppy but I will say that I am now a convert to positive reinforcement puppy training (and yeah, the same theory works on kids too!).

Very good read! Bought this and Cesar's book. This one wins hands down! I referred to it every day while training our dalmatian and lab. Cesar's was more stories, this one told me what to work on and how to do it!

Amazing book! A really easy read and I love that she also explains why doing certain things are important along with giving an example story. We followed this book religiously from the day we got our pup and he turned out to be the best trained dog I've ever had. I highly recommend!

REALLY GOOOOOD Book, I bought this and Cesar Milans. Totally into positive reinforcement training and this hits more issues than Cesar's but I would recommend both books and cherry pick training styles depending on issue. This is a must have for any dog owner. I love the pack mentality of Cesar's book and the more traditional style of this book. Have not had a puppy in 10 years so had to relearn how to train and forgot about certain issues that come up with puppies such as food aggression and chewing/biting and wanted to see new styles that have come about since I had a puppy. This book works well for the type of dog I have now, which is a rescue and I do not know what kind of dog he is so did a DNA test. I would suggest anyone who rescues to do a DNA as the type of breed will dictate style of training and issues, which are instinctual. I got WISDOM on sale and paid $60 to get the DNA. Still waiting on results, will review that process once I get the report.Wisdom Panel 3.0 Breed Identification DNA Test Kit
